Additionally, we pursue entrepreneurial ventures that seek to fill gaps in the market through novel or innovative products or services. We are industry agnostic. Instead, our focus is on identifying problems encountered in everyday life and looking for simple, logical and profitable solutions.
We source our ventures through organic innovation, angel investment, partnerships and acquisition.

WHY 'SEPTARIATE'
It all started with a photo. On the heels of a business trip to Chicago in March 2013, my wife and then three year old joined me for a brief family getaway. While passing a minerals display at the Field Museum, I paused in front of the polished section of septarium. It possessed a striking visual that I thought might translate well into a graphic element. Not sure how or when it could be put to use, I snapped a photo (see right) and filed it away.
When it came time to structure my venture, I kept coming back to that photo from Chicago. In researching the mineral, I learned that septarium is formed when one mineral fills in the void of another, creating something of enduring beauty. That sealed the deal. Like the mineral formation, I envision that Septariate will fill in the gaps in the market to solve problems or to create products with improved functionality and profound usefulness.

John launched Septariate in 2014 to pursue entrepreneurial ventures after a 20-year career spanning multiple industries and two continents. He has a diverse professional background, rich in accelerating roles in finance, strategy and operations at some of the world's largest companies as well as at early-stage startups.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Managerial Economics from Hampden-Sydney College and an MBA from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.
